Luis Suarez delighted at rumored interest from Arsenal FC, Bendtner close to joining Frankfurt, while Inter Milan and Roma wants young Chelsea FC left-back in loan.
Luis Suarez welcomes interest from Arsenal
The Uruguayan international’s future has been up for speculation ever since he disclosed his desire to leave the club. Initially Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were linked with Suarez, but the German club’s interest seemed to have faded away with time. Real Madrid is still considered to be the front runner, but the striker has recently drawn interest from Chelsea and Arsenal. Reports suggested that the Gunners’ first offer of £30m has been turned down by Liverpool.
It is believed that Arsenal made a move for Suarez after Real Madrid raised their demands for their initial target Gonzalo Higuain. The 26-year-old has insisted that Liverpool are yet to receive any offer for him, but he seemed happy with rumours linking him with Arsenal, although he has laughed off Chelsea’s reported interest in him.
“There have been no offers yet, but Liverpool know exactly what is going on and what I want,” Suarez told Uruguayan radio station Sport 890.
“My agent is in charge, he knows what I want, I am resting and relaxed. I am due back in about ten days, on the 21st of July (for the friendly with Melbourne Victory)… a phone call could change everything.
“It’s good to know that I am still valued by teams like Arsenal. Friends call me up to ask if I am moving to Chelsea, to which I laugh.
“Don’t believe everything you read or hear! I am sometimes off the grid. I don’t even know where my phone is sometimes.” – Suarez was quoted in press.
This comment can provide Arsenal the encouragement to purse their interest in the striker, although Higuain remains their primary transfer target. Meanwhile it is believed that Arsenal are preparing a £40 million offer for Luis Suarez, something which should ideally match Liverpool valuation of the striker.
Bendtner expected to complete his move in two days, reveals Frankfurt
Nicklas Bendtner’s agent has earlier revealed that the German club was in negotiations with the Arsenal striker. Although recent reports suggested that the deal is off as Frankfurt are unwilling to meet his high wage, the German club has now released a statement insisting that the deal will be completed in two days.
“On the initiative of the Danish player Nicklas Bendtner and his advisors final talks have been held today on Tuesday 9th in Frankfurt between the striker and Eintracht Frankfurt.
“Sports director Bruno Hubner is in close contact with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, and the final decision regarding Bendtner should be taken in the next two days.” – A statement released by the German club read.
The 25-year-old has been on the fringes of the Arsenal first team squad since 2010-11 season and has been linked with a move away from the club in order to gain regular first team action. He spent the 2011-12 season on loan to Sunderland and last season after initially refusing a move to German club Hamburg, he was surprisingly signed on loan by Serie A Champions Juventus. But he failed to make any impact at Turin as well, where his on field performances (read non-performances) was largely over shadowed by his off the field antics and injuries. Back in March, he was arrested for driving in a drunken state and was suspended from the Danish national team for six months. Bendtner has recently revealed that he is willing to join a smaller team this summer in order to get more opportunities on the pitch.
Frankfurt punched above their weight last season and managed to finish sixth in the league. Next season, with Europa league matches added to their calendar, they will need a bigger squad to compete at all fronts. Bendtner will look to form a partnership with Alexander Meier upfront, who was the top scorer for the club last season. This could also mean lesser game time for Olivier Occean and Croatian forward Srdjan Lakic.
Inter Milan and Roma interested in loaning Chelsea defender
Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Roma are interested in signing young Chelsea defender Wallace on loan.
The 19-year-old left back was signed from Fluminense back in January, but he remained at the Brazilian club till the end of the season as a part of this deal. But he could be loaned out immediately with his agent confirming that both Roma and Inter are interested in defender, although none of them have made any official offer for Wallace.
“There has been a lot of talk about him, and Inter have now emerged, too.
“But at the moment there are no concrete offers.
“The interest from (Roma sporting director, Walter) Sabatini is not a mystery but no concrete offers have arrived.
“Until you reach this point, there is no point in talking about a transfer.” – Frederico Moraes, Wallace’s agent, told the press.
