Real Madrid have reportedly contacted Liverpool FC striker Luis Suarez’s agent regarding a possible move to the Spanish capital.

Liverpool FC Striker Luis Suarez On Real Madrid Wish listSuarez has undoubtedly been Liverpool’s best player on the pitch and has almost carried his team single handedly at times. Despite missing out on games towards the end, Suarez ended the season as the second highest goal scorer in the Premier League. But his achievements have often overlooked due to various undesirable incidents on the pitch.

The Uruguayan international has earlier expressed his desire to play in the Champions League and despite his brilliance Liverpool have failed to qualify for Europe this season. This, along with the fact that he has often been wrongly singled out by English media and fans for various incidents, has meant that the 26-year-old’s future has been up for speculation throughout the season. A player of his calibre at this stage of his career would want to play in Europe’s top competitions and although Brendan Rodgers has rubbished rumours of his departure, it will be hard for Liverpool to retain him if any other top European club comes in with an offer.

After being linked with Bayern Munich earlier this season, reports now suggest that Real Madrid have contacted Suarez’s agent regarding his availability. The Spanish giants are preparing a £40 million for Liverpool’s top scorer as they look to rebuild their squad after a disappointing season. It is believed that Madrid have turned their attention towards Suarez as they are unwilling to meet the demands of Napoli for their initial transfer target Edison Cavani.

Cavani has a £52m get-out clause in his contract at Napoli and the Italian club are unwilling to entertain any bargaining for their prized asset. Suarez is cheaper option for Los Blancos in comparison to his Uruguayan team mate Cavani. Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to retain his star striker, but the reported huge transfer fee that Real Madrid are willing to offer, reportedly, might make it hard for Liverpool to turn away from this.

The Merseyside club don’t have a big transfer budget this summer and will be mostly have to offload deadwood before making any significant move in the market. In this situation, Suarez’s transfer could possibly allow them to strengthen their squad in all departments. It might be only a matter of time before Real Madrid makes their first official contact with the English club.

Liverpool FC have signed former Arsenal and Manchester City center-back Kolo Toure on a free transfer.

Liverpool FC Signs Manchester City Defender Kolo Toure

Liverpool have made their first signing of the season and although it is not the big name signing that the fans might have been expecting, but certainly one which could prove to be a shrewd piece of business. Kolo Toure might have made just 29 appearances for Manchester City in the last two seasons, but at the age of 32 he still has a good 2-3 years left in him.

But perhaps most importantly, Kolo Toure brings in the much needed experience in the Liverpool defence, something which they will miss after the retirement of Jamie Carragher. There are also doubts about the future of Sebastian Coates and Martin Skrtel at the club. Although it must be mentioned that Schalke defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos still remains Bredan Rodgers’ primary target and it is another move which is likely to be completed sooner rather than later.

Toure has won two Premier League titles along with his three FA Cup medals during his stint in England with Arsenal and Manchester City. He is one of the member of that famous Invincible Arsenal squad under Arsene Wenger. At City he didn’t get enough opportunity during the later stages of his stint, although his suspension due to failing a drug test didn’t help his cause either. Toure’s is a strong defender, who is good in the air – it will certainly help Liverpool in defending set pieces, something they have been vulnerable at during this season.

The Ivorian international, who has made over 100 appearances for his country, will sign for the club after his current contract at Manchester City expires at the end of this month.

“Liverpool Football Club can today announce they have agreed a deal in principle with Kolo Toure to join the club on July 1” – Read an official statement from Liverpool.

Toure has passed the medical at Anfield following his return from Manchester City’s tour of United States. His arrival also means that Brendan Rodgers is unlikely to pursue his interest in Ashley Williams, whom Liverpool have courting for a long time.
