Liverpool FC show interest in another Chelsea man in the successive winter transfer window after luring in Daniel Sturridge from the club last winter while Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva are all praises for Luis Suarez.

Ryan Bertrand to Liverpool?

Liverpool FC - Left Back targets

Bertrand has only started once in the League this season

Liverpool have again shown interest in Chelsea left back Ryan Bertrand according to the Daily Mail.

Cesar Azpilicueta has been starting for Chelsea of late with veteran Ashley Cole losing the starting berth in Mourinho’s plans. This means that Bertrand comes third in the Chelsea manager’s mind, behind Azilpilicueta and Cole.

It is believed that Liverpool will try to lure the English player, who can also play in the winger role, to Anfield in a bid to increase squad depth and add quality to the squad.

Even though youngster Jon Flanagan has impressed in his most recent outings filling in for injured Spaniard Jose Enrique, Rodgers wants to rope in another player from Chelsea who he worked with in the reserve team when he was coach there.

Bertrand has only started one Premier League fixture this season and probably will want to move out of the club, especially when he can be coached and guided by a same familiar old figure.

THT Verdict: Not likely

Even though Mourinho will not particularly rue in case Bertrand decides to leave the club, Liverpool is coping nicely without Enrique at the moment with youngster Flanagan making the left back role his own. In fact, Flanagan has impressed so much that he surpassed Valencia loanee Aly Cisokkho in the pecking order. Thus, this arrival might not be on the cards, as Rodgers will want to develop an academy product into a first team player.

Allen and Lucas applaud Liverpool forward Luis Suarez

Hull City v Liverpool Line Ups, Formations Tactics - Luis Suarez likely to score

Luis Suarez has the admiration of his teammates

With Liverpool climbing the top of the table after a victory against Cardiff City, the Reds midfielder Joe Allen went on to hail the Premier League’s top scorer, making a special mention of the new contract he signed:

Luis is delivering week in, week out and that is the sign of a world-class player. He is scoring goals for fun, creating goals and as a team we are killing teams off. His new contract was a massive boost for all of us players – not only going into the Cardiff game but also for the rest of the season. For him to commit his future here is fantastic news for the club and for the supporters. That is the kind of signal you send out when you want to attract some big players. It seemed to be concluded really quickly which shows Luis’ intent and desire to be at this club.

Suarez’s South American teammate Lucas Leiva too didn’t fall short of praising the talismanic player who has 19 goals from just 12 matches.

With what he is doing this season and what he has done for the past few seasons, he deserves that (deal). We can see that he is really comfortable playing here. It’s a positive message – the manager and owners have always said that they want to keep our best players. At the moment he is probably not just our best player, but the best player in the league. We are glad to have him here and hopefully he will maintain in this form for a long time for the club.
