As it been all summer, London appears the place to be for transfers. As usual, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea feature heavily in today’s transfer news.

Tottenham Hotspur, beaten by Chelsea for Willian’s signature appear to be in revenge mode. They are now reported to be vying for the signature of Juan Mata, who remained an unused substitute in yesterday’s dull performance against Manchester United. Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the Spaniard but considering the activity of both clubs in the transfer window, Spurs appear to be the likely destination, if such a thing is possible. It is also worth noting that Juan Mata was Andre Villas-Boas’ star signing while at Chelsea.

Villas-Boas is also reportedly eyeing Valencia midfielder Ever Banega in case he fails to sign Juan Mata according to El Mundo.

With Mourinho signing Willian and preferring Oscar, Schurrle, Hazard and De Bruyne in a crucial encounter against United, it was baffling to watch Mata watch from the stands when it was clear that his creativity could have benefitted Chelsea immensely, considering how United were in control of the game.

Staying with Spurs, the deal to bring Erik Lamela from Roma appears to be done and the London club are expected to part with anywhere between £26m – £30m. Steaua Bucharest centre-back Vlad Chiriches appears to officially a Spurs player after Steaua’s manager confirmed the transfer. “The two clubs have agreed to transfer him,” said Steaua manager Laurentiu Reghecampf . “I can not say the amount for which [he was] transferred, but it is very high.

Real Betis forward Alvaro Vadillo has also been linked to Spurs and could be the subject of a £8m bid according The Daily Mail.

It is no news that Spurs have been efficient in the transfer market this season, radically opposite to that of Arsenal. The latter has been linked to almost every player available or unavailable in the transfer market but has still made no signings. Yohan Cabaye has been adamant that he wants to move to Arsenal but Newcastle won’t let him leave for anything less than £20m. Having followed Arsene Wenger’s statements all summer, this deal has less possibility to materialize. Also, Arsenal have been linked to Angel Di Maria and Karim Benzema. While Benzema’s agent has denied the possibility of moving away from the Spanish capital, Di Maria’s future is still in the air considering the imminent arrival of Gareth Bale.

In what should be a welcome news for Arsenal fans, Nicklas Bendtner is believed to be on the verge of leaving the club and inking a deal with Crystal Palace. West Brom have also been linked to the Dane.

Another Real Madrid player who is rumored to be on his way out is Mesut Ozil. The German walked directly to the dressing room after being subbed off against Granada leading to speculation linking him with Manchester United and their ongoing recruitment mission for a midfielder.

Staying with Manchester United and Chelsea. After Jose Mourinho called on Wayne Rooney to “end the story”, Manchester United have categorically stated for the umpteen time that Rooney is not for sale even if he submits a transfer request. The next option for Mourinho, Samuel Eto’o has been offered a 12-month contract, but the former Barcelona star is considering two-year deal worth €4.5m offer from Inter Milan.
