When asked whether he would continue as Real Madrid coach next season, the charismatic Portuguese replied
” Maybe not. I want to be where I’m loved, where people want me to be.”
When asked to elaborate further, a rather unusually emotional Mourinho said
“ I know I’m loved by some clubs, especially one. I’m loved by the fans, I’m loved by the media that treats me in a fair way, criticising me but giving me credit when I deserve it”
Jose Mourinho’s future at Real Madrid has been the subject of speculation since the very beginning of the season after reportedly falling out with senior players of the squad. He has been linked with a host of clubs in the meantime, prominent among those being Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG. Mourinho spent three successful years with Chelsea and the Londoners are being seen as his keenest suitors.
The semi-final elimination for the third year running is viewed as the last nail in the coffin for Jose Mourinho. Real Madrid mounted a late comeback against their German counterparts, but two quickfire goals from Benzema and Sergio Ramos did not prove to be enough and the German side progressed 3-4 on aggregate. They will meet the eventual winner of tomorrow’s clash between Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the final at Wembley.
