1. Katsumi Yusa to join for Mohun Bagan A.C.

ONGC and Air India relegations were confirmed early this season due to AFC club licensing criteria and without a shadow of doubt the hottest property available was Japanese play-maker Katsumi Yusa. The versatile midfielder had some splendid displays in midfield for ONGC this season. He has drawn admirers across the subcontinent and it was Mohan Bagan who acted fastest to tie up the deal before others.

THT Verdict: Likely.

2. Derrick Perreira takes over the reign of Salgaocar SC after leading Pune FC to their highest ever finish.

Pune FC have become title contenders from dark horses. Their rise into prominence was well marshaled by Derrick Pereira and he will be looking to continue his exploits in Goan soil next season. Pune FC was also known for a well structured approach and their system got rave reviews all over India. Salgaocar’s young players will be eagerly waiting for new coach’s arrival. He is expected to help the youngsters to fulfill their potential after doing the same in Pune FC. This looks like a good deal for Salgaocar in the long run.

THT Verdict: Confirmed.

3. Mike Snoei replaces Derrick Perreira at Pune FC

Pune FC has acted quickly and swiftly to replace successful manager Derrick Periera with Mike Snoei. Mike Snoei brings a wealth of professional experience into I-League and one can expect him to lead India’s most professional club into greener pastures. Snoei is a product of a famous Dutch club Feyenoord, his experience with one of the best academies in Europe will come handy for Pune FC. His coaching and managerial experience Sparta, Vitese Arnhem and Panathinaikos is also expected to come handy for the I-League club.

THT Verdict: Confirmed.

4. Sanjoy Sen resigns Mohammedan Sporting role amidst Arrows rumours.

Sanjoy Sen is considered as the architect behind orchestrating Mohammedan Sporting’s passage into I-League. He joined the team few days before the I-League Division 2 campaign and put things in order to qualify for the top tier amidst injuries and other problems at the club. His reputation increased as a result and Pailan Arrows were rumoured to be interested in getting his signature. Even though family reasons are cited behind his resignation, one cannot rule out the possibility of Sanjoy Sen joining other clubs.

THT Verdict: Confirmed.

5. Ryuji Sueoka looking forward to Kolkata after Goan spell

Japanese import Ryuji Sueoka had a comparatively better season for dethroned Dempo SC. Dempo’s hopes were pinned on Rohan Rickets at the start of season, he created more problems than the ones he solved and it was Sueoka who carried the team when the big guns failed to deliver in another title defence. Sueoka had played for Mohun Bagan and Salgaocar before joining Dempo. With ample amount of experience on Indian soil, he will be handy addition to any side in I-League. The reasons for the interest from Kolkata giants are pretty clear and at the moment Kingfisher East Bengal is rumored to be in the driving seat for his signature.

THT Verdict: Possible

6. Karanjit Singh, Francis Fernandez and Rocum Lamare set to extend their Salgaocar stay

Derrick Periera has moved quickly to identify Salgaocar’s strengths. Churchill Brothers and Pune FC’s success in I-League proves that having a good core of Indian players is more important than securing big money deals. Salgaocar coach will be expected to do the magic he did with Pune FC. Derrick Periera has made a good start here by securing the core of his team for next season in the form of Indian trio.

THT Verdict: Confirmed

7. Odafa Okolie might extend his contract for one more year with Mohun Bagan.

Kolkata clubs are affected by the chit fund scams and the funding for next season looks problematic for most of them. Prayag United, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan had benefited from big sponsors last season and they were able to secure players on enormous salaries. Funds are expected to dry up now and it looks unlikely that these clubs will be able to afford all their big guns. Amidst the limitations, Mohun Bagan are looking to secure their captain Odafe Okolie for one more season, the Nigerian was their focal point of attack and it makes sense to tie up their experienced campaigner for one more season.

THT Verdict:  Possible

8. Trevor James Morgan might leave East Bengal for a Singapore S-League club

East Bengal’s unbeaten campaign in AFC Cup are drawing rave reviews from the continent. By topping their group with ease, teams across Asia took notice of the team and their manager. The Indian club has announced their ambitions in continental level and it is no wonder that the man behind the scene is getting interest from abroad. Even-though S-League is considered as a step up from I-League in some quarters, it looks unlikely that Trever James Morgan will leave East Bengal for a small step up.

THT Verdict: Unlikely

9. Salgaocar promotes 3 youngsters into senior team for next season.

Derrick Perreira is making an impression on his new club by promoting three youngsters into the senior team. Striker Albino Periera who is known for his pace and trickery will make a move to the senior team along with technically gifted midfielder Rayman Fernandez and versatile defender Anthony Cardozo. The trio may not be expected to deliver in the I-League stage next season, but their performance in U-20 TACA Goa League hasn’t gone unnoticed and they deserved their promotion to the senior team.

THT Verdict: Confirmed

10. Sporting Club De Goa’s Angel Berlanga might make a big money move this summer

Sporting Club De Goa made a strong statement in second half of I-League after a disappointing start. Under the stewardship of Spaniard Oscar Bruzon, the Flaming Orange turned the tables around with some impressive performance in new year. The revival was well aided by the winter recruit of rock solid center back Angel Berlanga, who marshaled the defence with aplomb. Former Auckland City defender is a man with high ambitions, hence, one cannot rule out the possibility of a big money move for the Spaniard.

THT Verdict: Possible

11. ONGC goalkeeper Rehenesh TP linked with Mohammedan Sporting Club

ONGC custodian Rehenesh TP had an impressive campaign in I-League after earning his starting spot for the institutional side. With ONGC disqualified from participating in I-League, Rehenesh is expected to be one of the hottest properties in the window. With premium goalkeepers rare in the country, it’s no wonder that newly promoted Mohammedan Sporting are looking forward to Rehenesh. He is a fine young prospect with a lot of potential and a move to Kolkata might suit him better for his overall development.

THT Verdict: Possible

12. Anwar Ali of United Sikkim has a number of suitors

United Sikkim’s central defender Anwar Ali had a good season for the relegated side in central defence. Even-though his team conceded truckloads of goals in some games, Anwar Ali put in some good shifts to earn his way into national reckoning after a period in wilderness. His performances have been noticed by few clubs and they are all lining up for his signature. Newly promoted Kolkata giants Mohammedan Sporting seems to be in the front of the queue with an attractive offer for the JCT youth product.

THT Verdict: Possible
