106. Bhawanipore Goalkeeper Debjit Mazumdar on Mohun Bagan’s radar.
Bhawanipore FC had a really good campaign in I-League division two and they missed the qualification by just one point. Bhawanipore’s goalkeeper Debjit Majumdar was brilliant under the bars and has been on the radar of Mohun Bagan since then. After releasing their custodian Arindam Bhattacharya, Mohun Bagan are looking to bring competition for Sandip Nandy under the bars. Debjit is expected to bring squad depth and experience in the goalkeeping department for the mariners camp.
THT Verdict – Possible.
107. Mohun Bagan releases Snehashish Chakraborthy and Nirmal Chettri
Mohun Bagan has decided to part ways with midfielder Snehashish Chakraborthy and defender Nirmal Chettri. The right back Nirmal Chettri was rumoured to be on his way out earlier and the mariners had roped in ONGC defender Wahid Sali as his replacement. Sali had an impressive I-League campaign last season and he will be expected to fill the void left by Chettri. The departure of Snehashish Chakraborthy will be a blow to the sabuj maroon brigade, who already lost Jewel Raja in this window. Mariners first choice replacement Nicholas Rodriguez had opted to stay with Mumbai FC and they are still in search of filling the midfield void. Snehashish had 23 I-League appearances last season and it will be interesting to see how the Green and Maroon brigade deals with his departure.
THT Verdict – Likely.
108. Mohun Bagan linked with Singaporean and Liberian international striker to complete their foreign quota.
Singaporean international striker Cameron Ayrton Bell is one of the foreigners linked with Mohun Bagan to fill their foreign quota. The 19-year-old striker is currently playing his trade for Tampine Rovers B team in Singapore Prime League. With age on his side, he might develop into a better striker in future. The other player who is linked with the mariners are Liberian international Edward Wilson Junior. Semen Padang striker is one of the hotshots in Asian football circuits and has 9 goals under his belt in AFC Cup campaign already. The Indonesian Premier League player is one of the deadly strikers in the circuit and it remains to be seen whether he will settle for I-League without continental competition in Mohun Bagan colours.
THT Verdict – Unlikely.
109. Dempo SC chasing the signature of Republic of Ireland international Billy Mehmet.
Dempo SC is preparing for life in Arthur Papas Era with yet another A-League player. British striker Billy Mehmet who boasts of a senior cap with Republic of Ireland is the latest star linked with the I-League super power. Westham United academy product had also played for Turkish Club Genclerbrigli and A-League side Perth Glory earlier in his career. The striker is currently playing his trade in Thai Premier League for Bangkok Glass. 29-year-old striker is known for his target man abilities and will be a good addition to Indian Football and I-League if Dempo officials can convince him to follow the footsteps of Simon Colosimo.
THT Verdict – Possible.
