169. Mehtab Husaain to give trails at Deportivo La Coruna

India midfielder, fondly known as Mehtab ‘Double Cylinder’ Husaain, is likely to have three week trials at the Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna. The East Bengal player and his agent Ravi Daswani are busy churning opportunities for trials in both first and second league clubs in Spain. Deportivo got relegated last season, have shown interest in having the Kolkata lad for trials. Rumours also suggest that Sporting Gijon are also on his radar for trials as he plans to leave this week.

170. Red Lizards extend Arata’s contract

Japanese born India international, Izumi Arata, has extended his contract for Pune FC which keeps him plying his trade at the Balewadi Stadium till the end of 2014/15. Pune FC are currently sitting on top of their best seasons in top flight football since their inception. The Red Lizards have been recruiting very shrewdly, investing into young talent as the future looks bright for them. Arata, has been with the club through their thick and thin, and is hopeful to win a title with them during his hey days.

171. JSW appoint Ashley Westwood as their coach

Former Manchester United defender joins the JSW brigade and takes over the prime responsibility of an already exciting project. Westwood joins the likes of Snoei and Falopa in the bandwagon of foreign coaches to make their debut on Indian soil in the upcoming I-League. Westwood has been assistant coach of teams like Blackpool, Blackburn and Portsmouth.

172. Ranti Martins to reconsider the offers.

The rumor mills from Kolkata suggest that the prolific Nigerian striker has ended his contract with Prayag United, after the talks between the club and the player broke off. The chit fund scam hit club has been trying to extend the contract of the golden boot winner. Ranti, who is currently in Nigeria, will review all the offers in his plate.

173. Mumbai FC extend contracts

The Essel group backed club, Mumbai FC, extended the contracts of striker Jayesh Rane and midfielder James Singh. Both the players had a fair outing last season, grabbing important experience during the course of the season. James Singh could only manage a solitary goal last season, but as the club shows trust and faith in both the young boys, its time that the duo reciprocate the same with their performances on the field for the coastal side.
