New signing Florian Marange hits out at Crystal Palace after he was ignored from the 25-men squad for the Premier League.
Marange joined the English club this summer on a free transfer after his contract with Bordeaux expired. He became one of Crystal Palace’s 14 new signings made in this transfer window. Marange has earlier signed a one year contract with the Eagles, with an option to extend at the end, but in light of recent events it seems like his stay at Palace could be cut short.
Manager Ian Holloway has left out Marange from his 25-men squad for the Premier League and it seems that the 27-year-old defender was unaware of these rules. The former French U-21 international has now hit out at the club in an explosive interview to L’Equipe. Marange has pointed out that had he known about this 25-men rule, he would have inserted a clause in is contract before signing it.
“I am disgusted.
“If I had known this rule, I would have a clause in my contract. But my advisor did not tell me. And now I am told that it is almost my fault.” – Marange said.
Marange made his only appearance for the club during Crystal Palace’s recent defeat to Bristol City in the league cup. But he has questioned how a player can be judged in such a short period.
“We lost [against Bristol City] but I was not at fault for the two goals. I have only had seven or eight training sessions. How can you judge a player after 10 days?” – he added.
The Frenchman also went onto reveal how everything went wrong from the start and expressed his disappointment at how the club has treat him so far. He also announced that he might consider terminating his contract with the club or looking for a move in January.
“I have never been presented to the press, I have never had an official photo and I am still waiting for my club suit.
“I stayed for 15 days in a hotel before finding somewhere to live and the club told me I had to pick up the bill.
“It is true, I have a proper contract, I earn a little more than Bordeaux but living in London is ten times more expensive. And I came to play. Either I rip up my contract or I wait until the winter transfer window to find a club.” – Marange was quoted in press.
Crystal Palace or Ian Holloway are yet to respond to this statement from Marange but a happy ending seems unlikely at this moment.
