Chelsea FC face competition in their chase for Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, while Sunderland continue their busy summer with another possible recruit.
Chelsea in a three-way battle with PSG and Real Madrid for Daniele De Rossi
Chelsea are preparing a bid for Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, but reports suggests that the London club will face competition from PSG and Real Madrid.
Daniele De Rossi is one of the few remaining ‘one club’ footballers in the world today. Real Madrid, Manchester City and PSG have all previously failed to convince him to leave his beloved Roma, even with all the wealth they had to offer. But they are ready to try again and this summer, reports suggest De Rossi could leave his boyhood club in search for a new adventure.
De Rossi is one of most complete midfielders in the world – be it tackling, or man-marking, be it pinging cross field balls to the wingers or picking out a forward with a through ball – he can do it all. His performances in the recently concluded Confederations cup have once again proved why he is so highly rated. So with all these attributes it is hardly a surprise that he has had so many suitors throughout his career, but his love for Roma has seen him reject all those offers.
The loss against Lazio in the final of the Coppa Italia has left him shattered. It is believed that he is now prepared to look for a new experience in different leagues. Jose Mourinho (for Chelsea) and Carlo Ancelotti (for Real Madrid) are reportedly keen on the midfielder, while PSG and Manchester City are monitoring his situation as well.
James Pallotta, the owner of Roma, has earlier indicated that the club is willing to listen to offers for the Italian international, while reports from Italy also suggest that Roma have already lined up Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan as a replacement for Rossi, if he leaves this summer. It is believed that Chelsea are preparing a £15m for De Rossi as Jose Mourinho sees him as the possible fulcrum in a new look Chelsea midfield. But French club PSG and Real Madrid are also monitoring his situation. Interests from thee big (and cash rich) clubs could possibly inflate his market value.
Sunderland closes in on Argentine right-back
Velez Sarsfield president Miguel Calello has revealed that both the clubs have reached an agreement over the transfer of Gino Peruzzi.
The 21-year-old have been making a name for himself in past few months. His performances in Copa Libertadores and in the league last season have earned him four appearances for the Argentine national team. Although initially Inter were considered as the favourites to land the defender, Velez Sarsfield confirmed that the Italian club didn’t make an official offer despite their interest.
President Miguel Calello has now disclosed that the club has agreed a deal with English Premier League club Sunderland and have given Gino Peruzzi the permission to conclude this transfer.
“We talked about the payment conditions and the values, we reached an agreement quickly.
“Now Gino Peruzzi’s representatives and the English club need to reach an agreement.
“When this kind of proposal comes, it’s hard to say no. If we turn them down, we might never receive this kind of proposal again.” – Calello was quoted in press.
Sunderland have been very active this summer under manager Paolo Di Canio. They have already signed six new players, while Jozy Altidore is also close to joining the club according to reports. The Black Cats lacked a genuine right back in the squad last season as Craig Gardner was deployed in the role. While Gardner did an admirable job in that role, he was missed in the midfield. Philip Bardsley was the only other option available, but Gino Peruzzi will certainly be an improvement.
