Chelsea FC: Januray Transfers

Chelsea: No more signings?

Chelsea FC coach Jose Mourinho has ruled out any new signing of strikers in winter transfer window – even though he is not happy and bitterly frustrated by the performances of his strikers so far this season.

The form of his strikers is the most concerning thing for the Special One at moment, with Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba having netted only four league goals between them this term. The Blues sit third in the table, five points behind leaders Arsenal

“If you tell me [Sergio] Aguero has scored already 10 or 12, [Alvaro] Negredo 10 or 12, [Edin] Dzeko four or five, [Wayne] Rooney eight or 10, [Olivier] Giroud eight or 10, [Daniel] Sturridge eight or 10, [Luis] Suarez 10 or 12 – if you ask me would I like my strikers to score eight, 10, 12 goals: Yes,” Mourinho told reporters.

“If we had eight, 10, 12 [more] goals we would be top of the league. That’s a reality but my strikers give everything and the team works hard.”

The Portuguese also claimed that there is little he can do now to improve the showing of his attackers.
“What can you do more? We work, we keep working. That’s the only way I know is to keep working,” said the Portuguese. “Of course we want the best possible results but I am not waiting for players, I am not asking for players. This is a period for the club and this is a period of my team where we have to try and improve the players we have and try to build a future.”

After their loss against Stoke City, Mourinho has also accepted the fact that there is an ongoing crisis at Stamford Bridge. “I don’t feel comfortable enough to tell you what I think about the game,” he said. “We’re in trouble. After 30 minutes we should have been winning 3-0 or 4-0 but we weren’t. When you play so well and it is so easy you find spaces, and when the three players behind the strikers were playing so well, you have to kill the game, and we didn’t.”

However, Mourinho is also adamant that he will not complain about his current squad.
“It is my squad. For good and for bad, it is my squad. Of course, it is not the perfect squad but it is my squad and I work with them until the last day. To criticise does not help me. What do I win by criticizing my players? I win nothing.”

Recent reports in the English media have associated Chelsea with many strikers across Europe like Radamel Falcao, Hulk or Jackson Martinez. But the most recent remarks of Chelsea boss have definitely put cold water on these rumours.
