Thiago Silva’s agent has revealed that FC Barcelona are yet to make an official contact for the defender, while Monchengaldbach have dismissed rumours about the future of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
Thiago Silva’s future at PSG has been up for speculations this summer. The Brazilian international, who is currently preparing to face Uruguay in the semi-final of the Confederations Cup, has been heavily linked with Barcelona. Silva has been linked with the Catalan giants for the past two seasons. Last summer he was expected to join them, but the defender arrived at Paris, much to everyone’s surprise. Barcelona’s prime target this summer has been to sign Neymar and one center-back, as they strive to improve their shaky defence – they have already achieved their first objective and are now believed to be in the market for a defender with Thiago Silva featuring at the top of the wish-list.
The 28-year-old has recently said that he will consult Zlatan Ibrahimovic before committing his future to the club. The Brazilian has stated that he is unsettled by the fact that Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave PSG (in order to join Real Madrid), the Italian manager was one of the biggest reason behind him signing for the club in the first place. So report suggested that Ancelotti’s departure to Real Madrid could possibly trigger Silva’s exit, along with few other big names.
But Silva’s agent has revealed that Barcelona are yet to make any contact regarding the Brazilian’s transfer and also insisted that the defender is happy at PSG, despite all these rumours.
“There has been no official contact.
“Thiago is happy in Paris and will remain there. His future is at PSG.” – Paulo Tonietto was quoted in press.
New manager Laurent Blanc’s first job after taking over the managerial role will be to secure Thiago’s future at the club. Barcelona have also been linked with David Luiz and Laurent Koscielny, as their back-up options.
Borussia Monchengladbach have dismissed speculations about the future of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen
At an age of 21 Ter Stegen is already considered to be amongst the best goalkeepers in Europe today. He has been phenomenal for Monchengladbach for the past two seasons, having progressed through the youth ranks of the club and country.
But fame comes speculations. As soon as Victor Valdes announced that he would leave the Spanish club in search of new adventures, Ter Stegen was mooted as the best possible replacement. But Monchengladbach has now rubbished all these rumours and have claimed that Ter Stegen has a long term future at the club.
“He’s here. Any further comment about it would be too much.
“If the Spaniards like to invent these stories, it’s another thing.
“Neither the player nor Borussia Monchengladbach know anything about any interest, a deal or an agreement. We’re building something up here, and I think he likes being a part of it.” – Monchengladbach football director Max Eberl was quoted in press.
When Eberl was asked about the reported release-clause in Ter Stegen’s contract, he said –
“His agent said this six times before to newspapers (that there is no clause).
“Now I say it for the seventh time – and I don’t want to be asked about it again.”
