Fiorentina Striker Stevan Jovetic is delighted to be linked with a ‘big club’ like Arsenal FC.
Stevan Jovetic is a man in demand at the moment. The Fiorentina forward has been linked with a summer move to Juventus, Manchester City and Arsenal. The 23-year-old forward has been Fiorentina’s most influential player in the last two seasons. Jovetic has scored 12 goals in the league this season, which has helped Fiorentina to move up to fourth in the Serie A.
The Montenegrin international has now come out expressed his delight at being linked with Arsenal. The forward also said that he has an ‘affinity’ towards the club, although he insisted that he is not looking for an immediate move to the Premier League.
“I’ve heard about Arsenal’s interest. It’s a big pleasure for me to be on the radar of such a big club. I am happy about that.
“I’ve always had an affinity with Arsenal. It’s a major club with a big tradition, one of the biggest in Europe.
“It’s not easy to replace [Robin] Van Persie, who scored a lot of goals.
“Arsenal have plenty of players who don’t score like Van Persie, but are also very good. They are still very strong.
“I often watch Premier League games on TV. It’s one of the best leagues in the world and looks tempting for me.
“Maybe one day I will play there but I have a contract with Fiorentina and battling for a Champions League place in Serie A is the only thing I’m thinking about now.” – Said Jovetic, ahead of last night’s game.
These words will certainly provide Arsenal with a boost in their chase for Jovetic. Earlier this week, reports from Italy suggested that the London clubs have already initiated talks with Fiorentina regarding the sale of the forward. It was also reported that Arsenal have been asked to increase their initial offer of £19 million. The Gunners will need to act quickly with Juventus and Manchester City ready to pounce.
