Arsenal could complete the signing of as many as four new players today, including Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil, Chelsea forward Demba Ba and Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.

In extraordinary turn of events, Arsene Wenger, who was heavily criticized all throughout the summer for the club’s lack of transfer activity can possibly be on his way to securing what could be the best signing made by an English club this season. Real Madrid have accepted Arsenal’s £46m bid for the German international and he is expected sign a contract in which he will earn £150,000-a-week.

24-year-old is currently away with the German national team and reports suggest that he is having his medical at Germany. It will be a massive coup for Arsenal and after their amazing performance against Tottenham this weekend, this summer can possibly end on a high. Ozil has been an influential figure for the Spanish club since joining them from Werder Bremen back in 2010. His statistics speaks for the amazing consistency he has achieved over the past few seasons at the club. Ozil is undoubtedly one of the best attacking midfielders in the world at the moment; he could take Arsenal’s attack to the next level. While Arsene Wenger did disclose in the post-match interview yesterday, that they could have few surprises in store today, but only the most optimistic of fans would have expected such a turn of events.

Real Madrid’s world record signing of Tottenham star Gareth Bale has introduced a domino effect in the transfer market. The Spanish club are expected to offload few players before the window close in order recoup some of the money invested in Bale, while some reports suggest that they could also be ready to make a late bid for Liverpool striker Suarez and Ozil’s sale could fund that move. It is believed that the signing of Mesut Ozil will be officially announced by the London club very soon. Interestingly, PSG made a later attempt to hijack this deal, but their bid was rejected by Real Madrid,

But Arsenal’s activity won’t be restricted to Mesut Ozil in the next few hours. They are currently in talks with Chelsea regarding a deal to sign Demba Ba on loan. The former Newcastle United striker has fallen down the pecking order after the return of Romelu Lukaku to the squad and is unlikely to see any first team action this season at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking to sign him as a back-up for Olivier Giroud, as inexperienced striker Yaya Sanogo was the only other option left in the squad. While Demba Ba Is not the most exciting of signings, considering the Gunners were initially linked with the likes of Higuain, Rooney and Suarez, but it will depth to the squad. Moreover, he has had limited opportunities at Chelsea to prove himself, and might once again be able to find his feet at Arsenal; he has shown that he can score goals in the Premier League.

Arsenal were also in the market for goalkeeper, after Mannone left for Sunderland this summer, while there are concerns about the fitness and consistency of Fabianski. The Gunners have apparently reached an agreement with Italian side Palermo to sign Emiliano Viviano on loan, with an option to buy. Viviano started off as a highly rated talent, but injuries have somehow halted his progress in recent times. He has put in some decent performance for Palermo, and can be a decent back-up option for Szczesny.

Reports suggest that Arsenal could one more new signing other than the three mentioned above. Ozil’s teammate Angel Di Maria is still being linked with the Gunners, although it seems unlikely that Madrid will sell both Ozil and the Argentine international in the same transfer window. Viviano’s team mate and Uruguayan international Abel Hernandez has also being linked with the Gunners. Skysports have reported that the 23-year-old has informed the Italian club that he wants to leave the club before the window closes.
