Arsenal FC will be offered the chance to sign Karim Benzema in a cut-price deal as Real Madrid look to fund their move for Liverpool FC striker Luis Suarez.
The transfer window might have been closed but speculation regarding the future of Benzema and Suarez continues to grow. Reports in Spain suggest that Real Madrid could offer Karim Benzema to Arsenal as they look to fund their move for Luis Suarez.
The Liverpool striker’s future have been subject of speculation and rumours since last season. But despite all these reports linking him with a move away from Anfield, and Suarez expressing his desire in public, Liverpool managed to hold on to their prized asset this summer, fending off interest from Arsenal. The Uruguayan international has now returned to first team action after serving his 10-match ban and has already scored three goals in three games since then.
There have been contradicting reports regarding Luis Suarez’s future in the English media. While some reports suggest that the Merseyside club could consider selling him in January if the right offer comes in, BT Sport quoted a Liverpool source saying that the club has no intentions of selling him.
“There could be no new contractual arrangement with Suarez once the season got underway and he was in dispute with the club, trying to push through a move.
“However, that has all changed now and the club have made it clear that Suarez has three years left on his contract – well, just under now – and to be fair to the player he has shown his commitment on the field.
“What happens next largely depends on the club and player sitting down to discuss his future in the summer when he has two years remaining on his contract, and it is traditional at that stage for clubs and players to want to re-negotiate contracts.
“We shall all see how it unfolds in the summer when those talks take place. In the meantime, the manager has stated that Suarez will be treated the same as every other player under contract.” – The unnamed source at Liverpool was quoted as saying.
But whatever the club’s decision is regarding his future, Liverpool are sure to receive offers from him in the upcoming winter transfer window and next summer. Real Madrid were linked with Suarez at the end of last season, but the Spanish giants didn’t submit any bid for him as the Gareth Bale deal was the priority for them. Having secured the former Tottenham winger, Real Madrid have turned their attention towards Suarez. But Real Madrid will need to sell in order fund their move for the Liverpool striker, and reports suggest that French international Karim Benzema will be sold to facilitate this move.
Benzema has received a lot of criticism during his time at Real Madrid and has never been able to win over the fans. This season he has scored two goals in the eight matches in the league, and Madrid are believed to be looking to add a more prolific striker like Suarez to lead their attack.
The French international was linked to Arsenal in the summer, but a move failed to materialize as Arsenal invested in Ozil and Real Madrid didn’t have enough strikers in their squad having sold Higuain to Napoli. But the Gunners could be offered the chance to sign Benzema in a bargain deal of £20 million in January. Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign another striker as Olivier Giroud is the only reliable forward he has in his squad. Arsenal would perhaps jump at the opportunity to sign Benzema in January at that price, but that opportunity might depend on how Liverpool welcomes Real Madrid’s approach for Suarez.
