Manchester United winger Nani is being tracked by Zenit but know United wouldn’t want the Portuguese to leave, Juventus on the other hand renew their interest in signing Dzeko. All this and more in our daily transfer round-up.
Zenit Want Nani
THT Verdict: Not probable. Even though Man United have a host of attacking options on the wing, Luis Nani is probably the best of them all and United wouldn’t want to let him go. The Portuguese future has been put under some doubt because his contract is up for renewal and hence all the talk about his departure from Old Trafford.
Nevertheless the interest form Zenit has some weight as this quote would suggest: “The news about Nani is true,” Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti said. Man United won’t be selling Nani and that should be the end of that.
Manchester United Bid For Dembele
THT Verdict: Unlikely. Sir Alex’s presence at the Cottage kicked off this rumour and has gathered strength since then. Fergie was eyeing his opponents for next Saturday’s encounter but journos tweaked it into a scouting mission for Dembele.
United’s summer transfer activity is all but over as the manager himself stated, unless that one particular player becomes available, be rest assured that player isn’t Moussa Dembele.
Kevin Mirallas Close to Everton Switch
THT Verdict: David Moyes is close to agreeing terms with the Belgian striker after it was reported that the fee has been agreed between Everton and Olympiakos. Everton, who have money available from the sale of Jack Rodwell, have already signed Naismith from Rangers on a free transfer and Steven Pienaar on a permanent deal from Tottenham this summer.
However, Moyes feels he needs another striker in his squad as the Toffees struggled to score last season with Jalevic being the top scorer despite arriving in the January window. Mirallas, who has been a prolific scorer for the Greek side, has been a transfer target of several clubs across Europe and a £6 million deal seems a real coup for the Everton manager.
Juventus Step Up Interest In Dzeko
THT Verdict: The Old Lady has been snubbed by Robin van Persie which has caused them to look at different options to boost their strike force. The Tabloids claim that the Itailan side has renewed their interest in Man City striker Edin Dzeko who seems to be down the pecking order at the Etihad with the rejuvenation of Carlos Tevez.
Dzeko, who was one of the most feared strikers during his time in Germany, could be a great addition to the Serie A outfit. However, Mancini is least likely to let the Bosnian go after being another one to be snubbed by RVP.
AVB Rules Out M’villa Move
THT Verdict: After the Modric move goes through Tottenham will have the cash to spend. However AVB is still keen to sign a striker as soon as the money from the impending sale of Luka Modric becomes available. Furthermore, Spurs aren’t short of players who can play the Defensive Midfield role as Sandro and Parker are more than capable players.
As it stands bringing in a striker remains the topmost priority for AVB and if he still has the cash probably bring in a player who can add creativity to the team someone in the mould of the departing Croatian rather than a M’villa.
