Of Leandro Damiao’s Spurs doubt, Julio Cesar at QPR,  Manchester City’s David Luiz interest and much more in today’s round up.

With the proposed sales of Dawson, Van Der Vaart and Luka Modric in the offing, Spurs might just successfully manage to weaken their spine. And now, Project Manager and Squad Culling Chief Andre Villas Boas has said in no uncertain terms that the club will not pursue an additional striker this summer. However, a host of players have been linked with Tottenham since the beginning of the summer. So could it be Hulk, Moutinho, Dembele or Willian?

TheHardTackle VerdictWe still think that AVB is likely to be bluffing as negotiations might be at a delicate stage. Of all the Premier League teams, Spurs look quite likely to have the most exciting final day of the transfer window. Either that; or they’ll panic and buy like their friendly neighbours Arsenal did last year.

David LuizIt is all getting a little too unbelievable for the QPR fans now, frankly. Post deadline day, they might even celebrate their 0 – 5 defeat to Swansea and hail Michu as their messiah. For without it, they’d still think Anton Ferdinand and Clint Hill were impregnable. If they were happy about the rumours linking the club to Carvalho and Dawson, then Julio Cesar’s proposed move to Loftus Road looks like the icing on the cake.

TheHardTackle VerdictRobert Green isn’t necessarily a bad keeper but Julio Cesar is a much better one. Should QPR get him, there is no doubt that they’ll both push each other to perform better. This deal looks likely to go through.

Someone with a not so fertile imagination must have started this particular rumour because Luiz sat out of the Chelsea v Reading game with a knee Injury. The Chelsea defender was daft enough to tweet about it too, thereby giving away Roberto Di Matteo’s master plan to replace him with Gary Cahill. However the rumours caught on and City were all set to capture their man. The ever vigilant Sky stepped in with their ‘understanding’ that no such bid was made and normalcy was restored.

TheHardTackle VerdictEven if we assume that this was true, Chelsea are highly unlikely to sell a player whom they see as the future of their defence. They are unlikely to cash in on him anytime soon and certainly not to a direct title rival.

The latest to emerge out of this saga is that a peeved Fulham have now officially lodged a complaint with the Premier League over Liverpool’s conduct. While Liverpool have spent the entire summer cajoling and coaxing the Fulham player into joining them, Fulham are adamant that an official offer hasn’t been forthcoming yet. It is a strange sort of a mind game for a club to risk the wrath of the mighty Premier League over a not-so-serious target. Fulham could perhaps be a bit more patient; decisions at Anfield are sometimes delayed for years.

TheHardTackle VerdictNo smoke without fire as the saying goes and it looks like Liverpool are leaving this one for late in the window. We think it will happen.

The curious case of Ricardo Kaka makes the world see him age at a furious pace. Real Madrid apparently offered him to Manchester United on loan. Wait, something doesn’t fit here. United perhaps have the most potent attacking force on earth now, and are also bleeding as a result of servicing the enormous debts laid on by the Glazers. So why would United invest in Kaka? He’s not even Korean, and even Brazilians don’t buy his shirts anymore. The question remains though, will Kaka move back to Milan/Brazil or will the Premier League finally witness Ricardo Kaka week after week?

TheHardTackle VerdictIt is hard to see any of the title contenders in the Premier League signing him up. But, we wouldn’t mind putting a cheeky tenner on Spurs making an attempt at signing the former Ballon D’or winner towards the end of the window. Provided his wage demands are lowered.
