Milan are rumored to be in the market for Montpellier captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa as a replacement for Thiago Silva. Lazio are looking to shore up their defenses with the signing of Xandao while Omar Elabdellaoui has signed for Feyenoord. TheHardTackle brings you a roundup of all the latest developments in the transfer market along with an analysis of these moves.
Milan interested in Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa?
Following the departure of Thiago Silva, Milan are in the market for a central defender. According to L’Equipe, Milan want to sign the £5m defender.
With a considerable amount of money generated following the sale of their prized players, Milan should look to spend it wisely and not go after marquee signing. Keeping that in mind, this rumor comes as a breath of fresh air. Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has been one of the most consistent defenders in Ligue 1 and is presently the captain of Montpellier. He is comfortable playing in central defense and even can play as right fullback should the need arise.
Looking at the present bunch of defenders who do not generate much confidence, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is tall, fast and also capable of scoring goals when required. Although he has been plagued by injuries in the past, this is one deal Milan should look to complete and at 5 million pounds, this is a bargain for Milan.
Lazio Chasing Xandao
According to Football Italia, Lazio are on the verge of signing Brazilian defender, Xandao from Desportivo Brasil.
Lazio will like to shore up their defenses after some glaring errors cost them a good start last season. The 24-year-old Brazilian will be a good addition to the squad and since he has an Italian passport, the non-EU spot will not be taken up. Currently on a loan spell at Sporting Lisbon, Xandao plays primarily at central defense – left or right.
The fact that the Brazilian is coming at only €3m will also be easy on Lazio, who are looking to build a team which will continue the strong start from last season.
Rossi on Manchester City radar
As per latest rumors from Etihad, Roberto Mancini has taken a liking to the Roma player.
Rumors of his impending move from Roma has been going on for a long time and till now nothing has happened over two transfer windows. However, Roma are presently not playing in Europe, a fact which City will use to pry away Rossi. His impressive performance for the national team did not go unnoticed by Mancini, who is willing to offer £25m for Rossi.
This deal does not look a possibility and with new boss Zeman at the helm. After parting ways with Luis Enrique and his failed Barcelona experiments, Zeman will be eager to reclaim lost glory with the Giallorossi.
Feyenoord signs Omar Elabdellaoui
According to BBC Sports, Manchester City player Omar Elabdellaoui has signed a season-long loan with Feyenoord.
This will be a welcome change of scenery for Omar Elabdellaoui, who till now hasn’t played a single match for Manchester City. The 20-year-old Norwegian has found life difficult in Etihad and with that in mind, has decided to move elsewhere to seek first team action. The right-footed Omar Elabdellaoui usually plays as an attacking midfielder and is sometimes known to play as central role too.
