Liverpool signs Borini. Milan sells Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to PSG, while Moutinho is chased by Tottenham. These and much more in our daily transfer roundup where we bring you the latest developments in the transfer market, the rumours spurring up and our insightful assessment of those.
PSG Signs Zlatan Ibrahimovic And Thiago Silva
Paris Saint Germain mean business and are on the verge of two huge signings. According to various reports the Paris club have snapped up Zlatan Ibrahimovic and may seal the deal for Brazilian centre back Thiago Silva.
THT Verdict: Done and dusted
This could be THE transfer of the season, with contrasting effects on both parties involved. Silvio Berlusconi had spoken to the media last night claiming a deal has been struck in principle and the announcement could be made anytime. The Swedish striker’s departure might still be accepted by the Milan fans, but losing one of the most promising defenders in Thiago Silva might just be too much for the Italians to take. PSG with their oil money might have finally hit the jackpot. They suddenly look like a force to be reckoned with, not only in France but also in Europe. As for A.C.Milan where they go from here is anybody’s guess.
Liverpool On The Verge Of Signing Former Chelsea Man Borini
Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers might complete their first transfer of the closed season, if Italian media are to be believed. The website claims a fee has been agreed and the player might be at Anfield next season once personal terms are agreed.
THT Verdict: Very likely
Liverpool have long been on the trail of the Italian forward and ever since Roma allowed the player to talk to Liverpool, the signs have been positive. With no reliable backup for Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll, Liverpool might have found a perfect fit. The price tag of 13m GBP might raise eyebrows for a striker who couldn’t establish himself in England, when at Chelsea. But not many Liverpool fans will be complaining if they get their man after having lost out on Sigurdsson earlier on.
Moutinho Off To Spurs For Record Fee?
The London Evening Standard report that Porto have slapped a price of 31.5m GBP on star midfielder Moutinho. Porto are ready to sell if any club matches their valuation, and Tottenham are considered to be the favourites to land the Portuguese international.
THT Verdict: Unlikely
With Andre-Villas Boas accepting defeat in keeping hold of Modric, Tottenham need a central midfielder to replace the Croatian and Moutinho seems to fit the bill. Porto are even ready to sell but the transfer fee could break any potential deal. Tottenham value the player at almost half the price quoted by Porto, and unless either of the clubs decide to compromise heavily, this deal looks highly unlikely.
Juventus Agree Deal For Gabbiadini
Juventus might have added to their deadly attack with the signing of Atlanta striker Manolo Gabbiadini. Goal claim that the Italian striker might go out on loan to Bologna, as Juventus have ample attacking options already.
THT Verdict: Very likely
Juventus are very smart as far as co-ownership is concerned. Gabbiadini is one fine example, as the Bianconeri fought off interest from Udinese and Dortmund for the highly rated striker. With no shortage of forwards, the young Italian is expected to spend the next season on loan to get some much-needed first team action. This is one for the future.
