Manchester United are linked with a sensational loan move for Kaka, Arsenal on the other hand are in pole position to land Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid. All this and more in our daily transfer round-up.
Kaka To Old Trafford
THT Verdict: Twitter went viral with this rumor and then as per norm it didn’t take the papers to catch up. It’s been said that the former WPOTY has been offered to Man United on a loan deal and the Reds seem interested. Nevertheless, it seems rather odd that United would be interested in the 29-year-old Brazilian as another attacking midfielder isn’t what the squad requires especially after signing Shinji Kagawa.
They say there’s no smoke without fire but certainly this seems to be born out of thin air. Kaka if he leaves would most probably return to Italy to his former club Milan, although Ferguson is an admirer but it feels that the Kaka ship has sailed a year or two back.
Adam Johnson To Leave Manchester City
THT Verdict: Johnson has been a peripheral figure at Etihad with Nasri and Silva easily the preferred choice for Roberto Mancini. The Englishman needs game time and isn’t content at being a bench warmer for the Citizens and if rumors are to be believed Mancini isn’t going to stand in his way.
Furthermore Roberto Mancini seems very keen on Scott Sinclair thus paving the way for Johnson’s exit. Although it hardly seems like an upgrade on City’s part, Sinclair might be more willing to start from the bench.
Büttner From Vitesse To Manchester United
THT Verdict: Done deal. It’s believed that the Dutchman will have his medical tonight as United look to sign a decent deputy for the omnipresent Patrice Evra. Left Back has been an area of concern for the Reds as the Frenchman’s form has dipped alarmingly over the past season and a half.
The 23-year-old full back attracted a lot of interest from a number of Premier league clubs including Southampton but when United come calling there’s no turning them down. United fans can breathe a sigh of relief after this signing, as after Fabio’s loan move one wondered who would deputize in Evra’s absence.
Sunderland Interested In Signing United’s Dimitar Berbatov
THT Verdict: Poor old Berba has seen the Red Devils splash the cash on Van Persie thus effectively ending his involvement in United’s season. The Bulgarian had already seen his playing time cut short by the likes of Chicharito and Welbeck last season and the signing of the Dutch striker must signal the end of his Old Trafford aspirations.
Its clear United are willing to offload Berbatov, however it remains to be seen if Sunderland seem a decent challenge for the Bulgarian hit man. One feels that a return to old club Spurs could make more sense or perhaps a return to Bundesliga.
Nuri Sahin Is A Gunner
THT Verdict: Highly likely. As soon as Alex Song departed North London to the sunny climes of Catalunya, Sahin was always going to end up at Arsenal. Liverpool were the other candidate but the lure of Champions League football must be an attractive proposition which the Anfield club can’t offer these days.
The other interesting thing to note would be whether the Gunners were able to insert a buy option or would it just be a temporary fix. Mourinho doesn’t want Sahin to leave for good while Arsene would love to have the option of a permanent transfer.
