Spurs are ready to hijack Liverpool’s summer target Gylfi Sigurdsson as they move closer to sign Jan Vertonghen from Ajax. Juventus want Luis Suarez in exchange for Milos Krasic while Arsenal line up Adrian Lopez to replace Van Persie
Tottenham Hotspur have moved to hijack Liverpool’s deal for Gylfi Sigurdsson
Spurs have spoken to Gylfi Sigurdsson about a proposed move to White Hart Lane. The North London club have tabled an offer that beats the contract offered by Liverpool. Hoffenheim are believed to be open to sell the player to any club who could meet the asking price.
Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers were confident of making the 22-year-old Icelandic International their first summer signing, however that could change in the next few days if Spurs are able to woo the player away from his former Swansea boss. The fact that Spurs are making the move without a manager at the seat speaks about their desperation for filling the void in case Luka Modric moves to Real Madrid.
Sigurdsson, like Modric, is capable enough to play as a central play-maker as well as a wide attacking midfielder. Although, Spurs may want to replace the Croatian International with Sigurdsson, Liverpool are better placed to clinch the deal mainly because of Brendan Rodgers who had previously convinced the player to make his Loan move to Swansea permanent.
Spurs to seal the signing of Jan Vertonghen from Ajax
Tottenham Hotspur’s long-term target Jan Vertonghen is reportedly on his way to the London club after Ajax and Spurs agreed on a transfer fee of around 12 million Euros. According to NOS, the player still has to finalize his personal terms with Tottenham.
Vertonghen will (if at all the move becomes successful) solve the niggling defensive problems that Spurs have had to live with in the recent past. Ledley King has not been offered a new contract because of his inconsistent display due to injuries; Vertonghen can fill that gap and also play as a defensive midfielder if required.
As Modric’s departure looks more and more likely, Spurs will have to make their intentions known by not only covering for the Croatian but signing other reinforcements to strengthen their case to qualify for the Champions League next season. Gareth Bale has lent his support to the club and has assured to remain for another season. However, Spurs might end up losing Rafael van der Vaart as the Dutch international wishes to move to Germany.
Juventus to bid €28 million for Suarez
According to Tuttosport, Juventus are to make a fresh approach for Liverpool ace Luis Suarez with an offer of around €28 million. Liverpool have previously denied the availability of the Uruguay International; however, Juventus are prepared to test the resolve of the Merseyside club by offering Milos Krasic, valued at €10 million, as part of the deal.
After the departure of Dirk Kuyt, Liverpool are in a look out for a wide player. Krasic was a subject of interest to former Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish along with a host of other Premier League clubs. However, it is not known whether Branden Rodgers is fond of the Serbian international. Krasic is a wide player who prefers to operate on the right but hasn’t had much of playing time at Juventus and is ready to quit the Italian club.
Liverpool have refuted all offers for Luis Suarez and are rumored to be out in the market for another striker; Huntelaar being the most popular of the linkups in the media. If Liverpool are to buy another striker and a winger along with Sirgudsson, they may be forced into selling someone. While Luis Suarez will not be sold by Liverpool under normal circumstances, the suitors might push the club to the edge if the player himself wishes to quit England.
Falcao not for Sale, Arsenal Line up Adrian Lopez
Atletico Madrid insist that its striker, Radamel Falcao, linked with Chelsea and Man City in the recent past, will not be sold this summer.
Chelsea have been keen to add another striker along side Torres after adding Eden Hazard from France. Hulk’s proposed move to Stamford Bridge looks to have stalled due to difference in valuation between Chelsea and Porto. and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea are looking to add a striker along with Hulk or at Falcao as an alternative to Hulk. Either way, Falcao will cost around £32 million if Atletico are to be pushed into selling their frontman.
Man City, looking to bring Robin van Persie from Arsenal, have also made enquiries about Falcao’s availability, in order to make a move if the Arsenal captain chooses to stay at the Emirates.
Arsenal are lining up Atletico Madrid’s Adrian Lopez as their next summer target. Spanish Newspaper AS claims that Wenger is eager to land the forward for a price in the region of €15 million.
While Lopez is not an out and out striker and cannot replace van Persie, the enquiry makes sense only if Arsene Wenger wishes to strengthen Arsenal’s front three in the absence of the current captain, who looks Man City bound.
