As per latest reports emerging from Spain, Real Madrid might be about to secure the signing of yet another Spurs player after Luka Modric in the summer – highly rated Welsh winger Gareth Bale, who is rumoured to be on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu either in the January transfer window or in the summer.
Bale has been mentioned as a target for quite a few European
giants for a while now, but this time it seems that his departure is imminent, with José Mourinho’s Real Madrid preparing a bid of around 35 million. Rumour has it that the player does not intend to renew his contract at Spurs, wishing to follow a new path in his career, so the London club might be tempted to listen to offers. After selling Modric to the Spanish giants back in the summer, they might sell another one of their prized assets to Real Madrid for about the same fee.
It’s still too early to guess what will transpire and whether and when the Welsh winger will be on the move, but it’s easy to see why José Mourinho is interested. Bale is one of the fastest players in world football, fitting perfectly into the club’s quick attacking style and can excel in a variety of positions, from winger to full back, as well as chip in with a lot of goals.
Bale himself has hinted that Madrid could be his preferred destination, claiming that Cristiano Ronaldo is his idol and he’d love to play alongside the Portuguese superstar. It’d probably take more than 35 million to take Bale away from Tottenham before the summer, but given the club’s current situation Real Madrid might feel tempted to spend big to boost their Champions League hopes.
