Robin van Persie has already announced that he won’t be extending his Arsenal contract, which expires at the end of next season. Ergo, it’s clear that the mercurial Dutchman will leave the Gunners this summer, unless Arsene Wenger can make him do a Wayne Rooney – a scenario which doesn’t look likely as of now.

    Here are the stats for the past 11 seasons for both Villa and Van Persie:
    Villa (goals scored): 20,20,20,20,28,20,22,30,28,23,9
    Van Persie: 0,16,6,10,11,13,9,20,10,22,37

    The last season was the first time Villa scored less than 20 goals in a season and that was because of a freak injury. Unlike Van Persie, Villa has no history of serious injury and is only 2 years older than Van Persie. Fit and in form he is by far the best striker in the world. Why would Barca trade Villa for Van Persie let alone pay Arsenal cash?! If anything it should be Van Persie+cash for Villa.

    Added to that Villa is spanish, is well liked by his team mates and was looking like he was getting accustomed to playing on the left and is genuinely two footed. Van Persie is primarily left footed and will not be comfortable playing down that side and he wont’t be replacing Messi in the centre or a fit Alexis on the right.
