In a big blow for the national team news has come out that Jeje Lalpekhlua can miss out on AFC Challengers Cup. In Pune FC-Air India match he suffered from an injury on his left leg and will have to take rest for eight weeks.

After Rennedy Singh, Sushil Singh has also joined Lajong FC leaving United Sikkim.

Mohammedan SC was held to a 0-0 draw by Police AC in Kolkata Football League on Tuesday. With this draw Sporting’s chances of clinching the KFL title has been dented considerably. The Black & Whites can face further action from IFA because they have been taking to the field after a lengthy delay in every KFL match till now. Another title challenger Prayag United drew 1-1 with Peerless. Joshimar scored Parayag’s goal after Abhidhan Chakravarty had put Peerless ahead. Prayag’s chances of winning the KFL title has also dimmed after this draw.

Colm Toal is expected to travel to Siliguri to watch the final round of U19 BC Roy Trophy. He is expected to select players for Junior National Team from the top performers in this tournament. The final round will take place between 25th and 27th January with Bengal, Mizoram, Karnataka and Jharkhand taking part in a round robin competition. Mizoram will face Jharkhand in opening match on Wednesday with Bengal facing Karnataka in the second match.

The 5th Edition of EK Nayanar Gold Cup will take place in third week of February in Kerala. I-League matches will not be taking place at that time and it is expected Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Mohammedan SC, Mumbai FC and Salgaocar will be taking part in this tournament. A number of matches will be held under floodlights and a tourament budget is reported to be Rs 1 crore 60 lakhs.

“We were told by AFC Competitions Director, P Steve that the documents pertaining to the club were not received from the member association. With the deadline over, the slot was lost and once again there will be no Indian team to qualify for the prestigious league,” stated Abhijit Patil, Media-cum-Marketing Officer of Salgaocar.”
