Three footballers Mohammad Hasan Adela, Michael Taiwo and Wahid Adenkule were sentenced to 14 days of prison time by Alipore Court, Kolkata. The footballers were arrested based on complaints against them by their neighbours. Hasan plays for Mohammedan SC while other two play for Kalighat MS. After this sentence they are likely to miss respective clubs’ I-League Division Two final round matches.

Naoba Singh is reported to be out for rest of the season after a knee injury.

Unconfirmed sources within Air India have revealed that the parent company of the football club do not have any plan to comply with AFC critieria. If Air India does not compy with AFC guidelines then the existence of the club will be in jeopardy from next season.

Mohun Bagan and Churchill Brothers’ participation in this year’s IFA Shield still remains uncerain. Mohun Bagan have lost a clutch of players to senior and junior national teams while the owners of Churchill Brothers club are right now busy with local elections in Goa.

Savio Medeira had this to say about India’s 5-1 loss to Oman. “There were defensive lapses in the game and we have to correct our mistakes. The back four which played together for the first time and it is understandable they will take some to get that combination right between themselves. We conceded two goals within three minutes and that upset our rhythm. Some of the boys made their debut and it took them some time to get started. Midway into the first half, the boys settled down and started combining well. But the start spoiled it for us”.

Churchill Brothers defeated Vasco 4-2 in Goa Super Division League on Friday. All goals were scored in first half. Henri Antchouet scored a brace for Churchill while Sabino Rodrigues and Jaspreet Singh added to the tally. Sagar Bathkhande and Lalit Thapa scored Vasco’s goals. Churchill Brothers go top of the table after this win.
