Baichung’s Bhutia’s United Sikkim XI defeated Superstars XI 7-4 in an exhibition match in Gangtok, Sikkim. The match was attended by close to 10,000 spectators who wildly cheered for Dutch legend Ruud Gullit despite him not taking to field. Other than ex-footballers some filstars like Rahul Bose also took part in this match. Scorers were Daniel Bidemi (2), Thoi singh, Bikokhei, Thampden, Lepcha, Bhupendra (For United Sikkim), Marcell (3) Sushil singh (For Superstars XI)
Hallelujah FC defeated Goa XI 2-1 in a floodlit match in Vasco on Sunday. Goa XI took the lead in front of over 8,000 people through Milagres Gonsalves who scored a stunning 30 yarder. Par Han Woonk levelled the scored on 27th minute while Kim Junsung’s goal on 77th minute proved to the match-winner. There seemed to be some controversy before the match as Government officials came to verify if this match was a political event or not. St. Andrews Parish Council has criticized this action by Government officials.

Mohun Bagan’s loss to Prayag United has given rise to discontent among both players and fans. Hudson Lima was involved in a heated altercation with Subrata Bhattacharya after being subbed off. After the match Mohun Bagan officials as well as Sunil Chhetry and Jose Ramirez Barreto were subjected to a torrent of abuses from angry fans. Meanwhile, the club has started selling out official calendars for 2012. Each calendar is priced Rs. 25.

Kerala State Electricity Baord (KSEB), Trivandrum, stormed into the semi-finals of All India Football Tournament for Bihar Cup defeating State Bank of Tranvancore (SBT), Kerala in a tie breaker in the quarterfinals at the Moin-ul-haq stadium today. Both the teams played remained locked at 0-0 at full time to force the tie-breaker in which the KSEB converted four goals to three by the losers. Donal Keny, Rakesh K, Jaseeer Karanath and Joby scored for the KSEB, while Sarath B T Abdul Noushad and Rinith C J score converted their chances for the SBT. The match witnessed ugly spars between the two teams when Johnson A (KSEB)and Prince Poulose (SBT) given marching orders by the referee following a heated clash between them over the ball possession. Earlier Indian Navy, Mumbai booked its quarterfinals berth defeating Mohan Bagan-SAIL football Academy, Durgapur 2-1 in the last pre-quarterfinal encounter. C T Sajith and B Ryiad struck a goal apiece for the Indian Navy in the 10th and 59th minutes respectivelyly, while Adarsh Tamang Lama scored the consolationg goal for the losers in the 77th minute. Indian Navy will take on the Army XI, Kolkata in the quarter-finals on January 25 next.
