AIFF will be conducting selection trials for the inaugural U-22 Asian Cup 2013, the qualifiers kick-off on June 23, 2012. The trials which would kick-off on March 3, and end on March 8 would be held at Pailan World School in Kolkata.

The start of IFA Shield can be further delayed after Rob Bann’s announcement of trials for U22 squad. The clubs which are already without players for India senior camp will further lose players to U22 camp and may decline to play in the Shield.

Sikkim will be hosting a knock-out tournament between March 2nd and 9th comprising of teams from eight North Eastern states. The tournament will be named after Mohun Bagan legend Dr T Ao, who was the first captain of Indian Olympic football team. The winner will be a cash amount of Rs. 7 lakhs.
