Eleven I-League clubs were present in a meeting with AIFF officials as well as IMG-Reliance officials in a meeting on Tuesday. The meeting can have far reaching impact in Indian football if the federation pays heed to clubs’ demands. It is being reported that the clubs wanted to be a part of an executive committee which will oversee organizing of I-League. Currently the clubs do not have a say in the way things are being run. Unless their demands are met the clubs have threatened to not comply with AFC Crtieria. Several questions were put in front of AIFF regrding the money spent behind Pailan Arrows and other academy related issues. A rattled AIFF has asked time till Monday next week to answer all questions. Meanwhile the Federation is allegedly trying to cause rift among the clubs.

Bengal can face heavy punishment for fielding over-aged player in BC Roy trophy. Dipak Mandal, one of the primary protagonists in victorious Bengal team is in the center of all controversies. His birth certificate for Techno Aryan reportedly shows he was born in 1993 while the same given to AIFF for BC Roy Trophy says he was born ib 1995. If he is indeed over-aged then Bengal may lose the trophy they won as well as other punishments.

Kolkata Premier League will be concluded in last week of April with the championship decider matches being played at that time. East Bengal and Mohun Bagan will be playing their last matches on the same day. Meanwhile, Pune FC will be replacing Kalighat MS in IFA Shield.

East Bengal is reportedly trying to bring FC Barcelona to an exhibition match in August, 2012. Nothing official has been announced yet.

Kalighat Milan Sangha qualified to main round of I-League Division Two in their first appearance as SESA FA slumped to a surprise loss against Guwahati Town Club. The six teams that qualified are – Mohammedan SC, Kalighat MS, Vasco SC, Royal Wahingdoh, Aizawl FC, United Sikkim. Last year’s relegated team, ONGC will be joining them in final round and the teams will play a two legged round robin league to determine the two teams who will be promoted finally.

Goa emerged as champions in West Zone division of 34th Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy after yet another goal fest. Goa defeated Maharashtra 11-1 thanks to Stany Braganza’s eight goals. Madhya Pradesh defeated Rajasthan 3-0 in another match.

As expected, IFA’s inability to fix logistical issues has led to the postponement of Premier League Soccer. No new date has been given till now and there is still uncertainity about if the league will be held at all or not.

Shillong Lajong FC will be playing an exhibition match on the opening ceremony of inaugural Nagaland Premier League. This match will be played in Kohima on 2nd March and Lajong is expected to travel with a full strength squad.
