East Bengal has signed Brazilian Edmilson as a replacement of Alan Gow. The club was linked with number of other strikers but chose Edmilson because he was available right now. Edmilson has played for East Bengal before and left Royal Wahingdoh after signing few days back. Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan has registered Subhashis Chowdhury and MB-SAIL Academy product Manish Bhargav for I-League.
Dempo is all set to sign Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Denzil Theobad when the second transfer window opens. The club will also look to get a player on Asian quota, Japanese striker Kato is coming to trials for this purpose.
Concrete actions are being taken to start a North Eastern Football League to utilize the immense potential NE States have. Recently football officials from seven states met together and finalized the idea of a league consisting of eight clubs from North East. As per the latest news, Sikkim will be excluded from this league because of logistical issues. Lajong FC will be excluded as they are part of I-League, any players playing in I-league will not be allowed to play in this league. Champion teams from each of the seven states will qualify directly while a knockout tournament between seven runners-up will determine the eighth team. There will no relegation in the consolidated league but participants will change every year depending on results in state leagues.
Total Prize money of over Rs 1 crores are supposed to be given out with even the last placed team getting some amount. Matches will be held on home and away basis with clubs getting 60% of gate money. The organizers are hoping that this league will give rise to five or six professional clubs in the North East in next few years.

World Cup winner and Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro has signed the deal to play in the ambitious “Premier League Soccer” which will be an IPL styled football league starring international players. The likes of Juan Pablo Sorin, Jaya Okocha and Robert Pires are also expected to play in this league.
