Welcome to THE Match of Round 14 I-League 2011-12. Pune are hosting East Bengal at Balewadi Sports Complex and with half an hour to go already there is a buzz around the stadium.

As the starting line ups are announced , Mehtab Hossain and Tolgey Ozbey get huge cheers by the away fans, who are always in huge numbers here at Balewadi when Kolkata teams play. Another fifteen minutes to go before kick off !

Kick Off : Teams are walking onto the pitch amidst some cool music and huge applause by a decent gathering here.Ai?? Its time for some quality football under lights here at Balewadi Sports Complex !

0′ : Pune in their traditional All Red attire whereas KEB in their away white jerseys and black shorts. Pune to play from right to left . KEB to kick off. Here We GOAi?? !

2′ : East Bengal start off with some sublime passing at the back whereas Pune has been quick in thier moves at starts as always.

5′ : Vashum earns the first corner for KEB. And Nirmal Chettri leaped high and connected to it really well . His header just brushed off the side netting’s.

A bit of a stoppage here for dim lights. This has rarely happened at the Balewadi Stadia. Its now about 10 minutes and one of the flood lights/towers are off. The match commissioner Gulab Chauhan is on the pitch along with Refs Shaji Kurian KN Gikulan , MD Basheer and RC Vijay.

Ai??7′ : And we are back into action now !

10′ : Tolgey brings down Chika Wali as both chase down the ball for a goal kick and similarly a minute later at the other end Keita did the same on Uga Okpara

12′ : Both sides have not come into their rhythm as East Bengal ahve made a couple of moves into the Pune box.

14′ : Abhra Mondal has looked quite agile and swift as he came up thier against an onrushing Tolgey Ozbey

17′ : Keita to Lester and he draws a foul as Vashum tries to impede. Free Kick taken by Douhou is well blocked by the KEB defense

19′ : Keita to Karma on the D area and Karma has been brushed aside by Okpara. Karma need to be strong in that area else the KEB defenders will keep on blocking him

21′ : Now Khan Thang Paite draws a foul as he was getting locked by Douhou and the Pune midfield

23′ : Now thats some free flowing football by Pune. Douhou to Karma who one touches it to Ramu who give it back to Douhou and now Karma again who crosses one in as Jeje gets on to the header but its just wide.

25′ : Pune are closing down well upon KEB and also leaving no wings open. Thats good solid play by PFC.

28′ : Letsre Fernandes into the box for Pune and takes it on his left to shoot and a bit of a scramble in the KEB defense as they hand over Pune their first corner.

30′ : Baldeep and Chika Wali are giving no space for Vashum to run on the right wing. Tolgey joins in support and causes a bit of a rift with his Pune counterparts.

32′ : Sloppy play from Pune and East Bengal have started building up some decent moves here but the final pass is missing . The Pune defense line of Anas , Chika , Tabia and Ramu are combining well too.

35′ : Miscommunication between Okpara and Gurpreet on a Douhou free kick leads to a corner for Pune. And now its Karma Tsewang who forces Gurpreet to dive , yet another corner for Pune

38′ : And that was a wonderfull counter attacking opportunity for Tolgey as the clearance from KEB defense meant he had only Ramu to beat but Tolgey could not find a firm grip and slipped

42′ : Some physical football going around as Gurwinder Singh brings down Jeje who to be fair went down a bit softly.

44′ : And Tolgey Ozbey goes down in the D area and the Ref asks to get him up. Huge boos around as it did look lie a dive. And Karma Tsweang on the other end on a run just missed to shootAi?? !!!

45’+1 : Jeje with a weak shot from outside the box but its on target forces Gurpreet to collect but he made a hash of it.

45′ + 2 : Now Lester goes close not once but twice with that low shot down the left . Pune are in the ascendancy as half time beckons

HALF TIME : Pune FCAi?? 0Ai?? -Ai?? 0Ai?? Kingfisher East Bengal

Its a festive atmosphere out here as school kids are performing ‘lezim’ – Maharashtrain Folk Dance, amidst drum beats. It has also been festive in terms of football being displayed by both teams – Pune FC and Kingfisher East Bengal. The home side could have been up by a couple of goals had Gurpreet Singh Sandhu not pulled off those amazing saves. Interesting second half to begin soon…

46′ :Ai?? So a quite start to the second half as both teams cancel each other out in the midfiled.

50′ : Okpara and Keita have had a fabulous one on one battle and till now Okpara has had the upperhand.

52′ : Both coaches of the bench as Mehtab Hossain changes the move onto the left wing with Saumik Dey

55′ : Soft start here so far in this half. No attempts on goal yet. Pune are yet not into the same momentum they had before. But PFC are so much of a momentum team not only over the league matches but also over a period of play in a match Ai??

57′ : And Jeje with his first attempt on goal this half. Gurpreet with yet another good save as the ball was on target !

60′ : Oh and that was close . Vashum and Tolgey with back to back attempts on the PFC goal as Keita makes a good header at the other end. Just wide !

62′ : SUB KEB IN – Sanju Pradhan , OUT – Sushant Mathew

65′ : Pune FC 0 – 0 Kingfisher East Bengal

67′ : What a scramble in the Pune box. What was happening out there. Abhra Mondal came out and was well beaten by Penn Orji and the clearance from S Ramu was back to his keeper !!!

69′ : Douhou Peerre brought down inside the box. Was that a penalty ? The ref thinks negative. Corner ? NO !

71′ : What a critical tackle by Anas there on Tolgey. He had to be completely sure of getting the ball with that dive else that was a straight penalty ! Ball out for a corner

73′ : Oh and that was yet another tackle on Tolgey this time by keeper Mondal. Tolgey was sure it was a foul and showed hi anger by kicking the ground, But Abhra had got touch of the ball to be fair. Ball again out for a corner.

75′ : SUB PFC IN – Venkatesh , OUT – Douhou

78′ : Critical period this for both teams as a goal in here could be the killer !

79′ : SUB PFC IN – Arata , OUT – Karma

81′ : OOhhhh and that was close by fan favorite Arata. Good control in the box by Izumi and the shot just went wide as it hit the side netting.Ai??

83′ : Ozbey with a free header and puts it wide. That should have burried !

85′ : SUB PFCAi?? IN – Gurjinder Kumar , OUT – Lester

87′ : Mehtab Hossain distributing the ball with pinch perfection as his counterparts Venkatesh and Arata Izumi have combined well enough since both have come in for Pune.

89′ : Corner for Pune . Venkateshfinds Othhalo Tabia free outside the box but he loops it over. Nww Arata on the move and he earns yet another corner fr Pune

90′ : East Bengal have relied too much on the direct ball and the strategy of finding Tolgey Ozbey each time isnt workingAi??

90+2′ : That was a dream run from Tolgey Ozbey as he came back to collect the balll and ran into the Pune defense a only to be stopped by a diving Abhra Mondal.

90+3′ : And there goes the final whistle. Its been a highly entertaining nil nil game here at the Balewadi.

4′: GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!

4′: The Mariners had no idea what hit them. There defence was in sixes and sevens as RalteAi??slottedAi??the ball inside Bagan’s goal.

5′: Ralte got at the end of a wonderful pass from Rafi, to set the ball rolling.

6′: Ai??And Bagan hit the woodwork now. Both the sides are going all out from the beginning. Ai??

9′: Some urgency can be seen the Bagan’s game now. An early goal hasAi??definitely woken them up.Ai?? Ai??

16′: The host are playing much better football as Odafaaaaaaaa shoots out of the blue but his shot is blocked by the backline of Churchill. Ai??

17:’: Rafi goes down in the box. It looks like there was certainly some contact with the defender but referee does not point to the spot.

18′: GOAL!!!! GOAL!!!! GOAL!!!!!!!!!

18′: Odafaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!. It had to be Odafa… Brilliant control by the captain to get the equalizer for the visiting side. Inch perfect cross from the right flank and Odafa chested it down perfectly and landed the ball in the back of Churchill Brother’s net.

45+2′ And referee whistles for half time. Both sides have had their fair share of chances as the match is evenly poised.

Halftime Scoreline: Churchill Brothers 1-1 Mohun Bagan. Churchill had a good start to the match but they must be thanking their stars that it is still even stevens at the half especially after Bagan came really close with two of their shots hitting the crossbar.

46′: SUB MMB- Barreto on for Jewel Raja. As second half begins.

47′: WIth the arrival of Barreto, Mohun Bagan will have to switch onto a much more attacking 4-4-2 from their first half 4-5-1 formation.Ai??Ai??

48′: A reckless reckless challenge by Debnathas he kicks Opara on the head. and picks up MMB’s second yellow.

49′: Poor free kick from Beto but it almost landed in the goal after picking up a deflection.

55′ WHAT A SAVE!!!!!!

Ai??56′: Odafa has set Barreto free who took a shot with defenders on either side of him, but the shot was saved by a charging Churchill keeper- Aridam. The ball rebounded of the keeper but there was no one from Mohun Bagan present in the box to takeAi??advantageAi??of the rebounding shot.

64′: Bineesh Balal has been introduced in place of Ralte, who was carried off with an ice pack to his knee. Ai??

68′: The game has rally opened up now.

68′: Throw in for Bagan, but it is clearedAi??comfortably.Ai??

69′: What was rakesh trying to do there? Haven’t seen a worst cross than this till now in the entire 70 odd minutes.

70′: And some bad news for the home side as Beto is down. He is being carried off on strature. Churchill have already run out of all their substitutions so currently they are down to 10 men as their captain receives treatment on the sidelines.

71′: Manish cuts in a perfect ball for Barreto inside Ai??the Churchill box but Barreto handles the ball.

72′ : Yet antoher attack by Mohun Bagan but Snehasish messes it up.

Ai??73′: Ai??Odafa is twisting and turning inside Churchill’s half and takes a shot with his weaker foot. And Ai??GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a match it has been. It was tipped by THT as the match of the week and it was totally lived up to it’s billing. The match came to lfe after MMb scored their third and after that the last 15 oddd minutes were played at an altogether different level.

Hat -trick man Odafa is THT’s man of the match, as MMB climb to the third place on the table. Churchill still have a game in hand but are lying on fourth place.

Fulltime Score Churchill Brothers 2-3 Mohun Bagan.
