Sunderland Complete Wes Brown Deal
Manchester United veteran Wes Brown has agreed to a move to Sunderland for an undisclosed fee. The player has signed a 4 year contract at the Stadium of Light.
THT Verdict: With the arrival of new signing Phil Jones and the presence of young Chris Smalling; along with the Da Silva twins, it was the right time for Wes Brown to move on. The player has 361 appearances for United and has loads of Premier League experience and will have a lot to offer to the Sunderland defense.
Vargas Set to join Juventus?
Gazetta dello Sport reports that Manuel Vargas has turned down a transfer to Wolfsburg because he wants to join Juventus. Juve is reportedly offering Momo Sissoko, Javier Martinez and cash in exchange.
THT Verdict: Juventus are in the market for a left-winger and there are few better wingers in Serie A than the Peruvian. If Juve manage to capture him for a moderate amount of cash as well as ship out two unneeded players, then it will be a brilliant deal.
Zanetti Hopes for Tevez Arrival
Inter Milan player Javier Zanetti has admitted that he would love to have fellow Argentine Carlos Tevez at the club. The player is hoping that Inter make a move for Tevez as long as his heart is set on leaving England.
“Tevez for Inter? If it were me I would try right now. But you will hear important news in the coming days,” Zanetti said at the Copa America tournament. “Carlos is the kind of player any football club would want to have on their team. We are at the beginning of the transfer window and maybe we will produce some surprises.”
Wenger To Launch £27m Bid For Benzema
THT Verdict: Unlikely. Karim Benzema is liked by Zinedine Zidane, who seems to be the new authority after Jorge Valdano’s departure. And with reports of Neymar staying with Santos till January, its improbable that Benzema will leave Madrid. He has had a terrific season last year and has scored crucial goals inspite of being out of favor and has worked really hard to get a spot in the first team. And with Higuain making a comeback of sorts, Benzema is the current main striker at Real Madrid. He will be moving nowhere this summer. And, Wenger will never spend that amount of cash considering his financial philosophy.
Falcao Edges Closer To A ‘Dream Move’ To Chelsea
“There is a club that I dream to play for. They are foreign but I do not want to say who it is now. The Spanish league is good, but I prefer the Premier League as there is a better atmosphere on the field.” – Falcao
THT Verdict: Likely. Villas-Boas may look to bring in at least one player, with whom he has worked previously, and Falcao can be that player. The Colombian Striker is good in the air and is a lethal finisher. At 25, he is reaching the prime of his career. He would cost the Blues 27m, and considering this inflated market, it may just turn out to be a good price to pay for him. However, if he comes, either Anelka or Drogba or both will leave the club. In any case, Chelsea’s priority remains a creative midfield/wide player, as the club can certainly do without a striker, but surely can’t do without creativity in the midfield.
Arsenal Reject United’s 20m Bid For Nasri
THT Verdict: Man United have had their first 20 million bid rejected, with Man City and even Chelsea in the reckoning Arsene Wenger and Arsenal will look to maximize their want away star’s transfer fee. At this moment with just an year left on the contract, Nasri holds all the aces. The Frenchmen could look to force a move to a club of his choice and if the Gunners’ boss refuses to sell, he might risk losing him on a free the following year. Will United comeback with the extra 5 million or will City and Chelsea respond with an offer of their own? As things stand, this saga could go on for a few more days, if neither party refuses to budge.
